TRANSPARENCY

Our company prides itself on complete transparency so that partners and customers alike can rest assured they know what’s happening behind the scenes. We are committed to continuous improvement and best practices to ensure our organisation generates an ongoing positive impact.

PRODUCTION

Taking inspiration from the collaborative nature of mycelium networks and their mutually beneficial ecological relationships, we envision a business model that fosters collaborative networks with local businesses, utilising their waste streams to build revenue from an otherwise discarded source. We see the intrinsic value of waste and seek to establish a circular organic recycling industry in Australia.

All production and remediation is currently done in house by a small local team using sustainable practices. Where possible our processes are done by hand to reinforce the human connection to materials and finished products, while also reducing the carbon footprint of Fungi Solutions.

SUPPLY CHAIN

Our mycelium products are predominantly made from untreated, organic, locally sourced waste materials. We source clean (untreated raw materials with no inks or chemical additives) waste substrates for our material production.

Where new materials are required for use as a substrate, we opt for waste from crops with a low environmental impact like hemp which isn’t water intensive to produce and also improves soil quality.

All Myco-Material product supply chains are fully traceable back to the raw material source of origin and treatment processes.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

In order to protect our native biodiversity our Myco-Material products are heat treated, so you can compost at home with confidence. We work to promote and protect vulnerable natural resources through participation in cleaning up Melbourne’s waterways and streets in collaboration with our community partners. These clean up efforts would not be possible without many committed individuals who collect and donate pollutants like littered cigarette filters for remediation.

Future investment will contribute towards us achieving B-corp accreditation and generating renewable energy input for the facility and scaling up our sites to accept higher volumes of waste resources. This will be a core focus of the organization going forward to ensure that our production has the lowest environmental impact, and where possible that cultivating our materials has a positive effect on reducing pollution, landfill and manufacturing inputs.

FINANCIAL

We are committed to full financial transparency and all profit generated flows directly back into the business’s programs to support applied Mycology research, create a positive environmental impact and facilitate community educational initiatives.

From our resources we contribute 43% to running our facility, 25% to supporting our team, 15% to Research and Development and 17% to Education and Community Programs.
